Goa Gil in Japan

Hello everyone, My name is Mike, I just got a new job in Japan teaching English! To really "set it off" and kick my new life in Japan off with a serious bang, I decided to try to make all three of Goa Gil's performances in Japan this summer. I was wondering if anyone else would like to attempt this Journey with me? If so, lets start planning now! Does anyone have any advice for me? I have gone to several Goa Gil performances in Northern California, and they were all "Camp-Outs". Do the Goa Gil's in Japan use the same "Camp-Out" format? Does he still spin for 24 hours ?

Arahat new Live/DJ set online - Soul of the Peacefull Warrior Disc 1 & 2 * Plus my archive

Hello everybody, I recorded a new mix at home in my studio a few weeks ago. Its titled "Soul of the Peacefull Warrior", Disc 1 and 2. I mixed straight through for 2 1/2 hours, then split it into 2 CD's.

It was mixed using M-Audio's Torq dj software and recorded 24 bit to Soundforge, then mastered in Cubase SX. I used two Pioneer CDJ-800's going into an Ecler mixer to control the tunes in the software using the Timecode discs, with the tables set to Vinyl Mode.

I just uploaded it to my friends server along with a bunch of my older mix sets from the last few years. Included is a mastered version of my New Years Eve set from this last year and I split it into Three 1-hour files. There's a breaks mix and some of my Radio station appearances as well as my fav's from 05.

Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoy at least one of the mixes, please post any comments whether positive or negative, constructive criticism never hurt anybody.

My bio:

Aimed for the most cinematic, destructive, bowel-shaking, mind altering
sounds known to man (or machine), Dj Genki is set to move and shake this
deteriorating planet of ours with each set he plays. Not happy with settling
down to only some styles of music, he caters the unexpected yet keeps the
flow uninterrupted and true to the moment. Some of the styles he prefers are
hardcore breakbeats, chunky house, high-octane psytrance and drum’n bass in
its various forms.

An integral part of several music-related crews in Finland, Genki has always
acted towards open communication across different musical scenes. Also as an
A&R person for Exogenic Music Group, Genki has had his hands in many strange
soups that have been brewed in this cold, dark country. He started in 1993
at the tender age of 17, playing the early forms of industrial / psy-sounds
in mostly illegal bush gatherings and warehouse parties.

In the early 90’s, the electronic dance music scene in Finland was very
young and still searching its form. This was the era of mad parties and
outlaw action in the finnish capital, Helsinki, and the people going to the
parties were die-hard ravers who protested loudly if (and often when) the
police came to stop a party in deserted factories, deep northern forests or
wherever the organizers managed to pile up a stack of speakers and get a
home-made decor up in a couple of hours.

The underground party scene of Helsinki underwent a drastic change in the
mid 90’s, due to an unfortunate accident at a warehouse party that was held
in the sixth floor of a building. After that, the police wouldn’t condone
any activities without permits and official measures taken. Soon the crews
would find ways to make the activities seem perfectly legal and the bush
gatherings flourished again. Genki was playing in many of these events and
dragged many speakers to many vans after them. He also helped to spread the
music of the budding Finnish artists to other countries as well as hosting
people from abroad while they were on their excursions in Finland.

1998 marked as one of the main turning points for Genki’s djing career. He
went for a 6 month trip to Australia and heard many of the local dj’s
playing all kinds of music mixed together in the parties there, instead of
the generic order of playing just one or two styles of music during the
night. This journey also lit his interest in rough drum n bass and dirty
breakbeats, which became his main interests after drifting away from the
psytrance scene… Just to return to it after 8 years of intensive breakbeat
schooling.

The future is always open for this guy, and there is no way of telling what
he might be up to next. These years have taken him and his music from almost
every city or town in Finland to countries like France, Australia, Japan,
Sweden, Latvia, Estonia and Germany. He's had the privilege of playing with
such acts as Pendulum, Raja Ram, Eat Static, Dom&Roland, Aquasky, Ticon, Plump Dj's, Dieselboy,
Underworld Dj’s, Chris Liebing, TeeBee, Matrix, Klute, )E|B( and many, many
others.

No genres, no boundaries, just pure, unadulterated music.

Hello we are two french visual artists travelling around Japan. After being blasted at parties we are leaving on Monday for a sight-seeing / mindexpanding 10 days tour to Hiroshima, Miyajima then on the way back to Koya-san for a few days and we will finish in a Onsen around Nagano .

Vaporvent is a creative entity composed of artists that produce, create and reflect on the world around them. Musicians, designers, clothing-makers, software designers, travelers and life enthusiasts... Started in 1999 as a way to get their music out to the world and bypass the somewhat hostile avenues of media release, they formed their own label. Though the growth has been organic, they have formed a network around the world through their creations and energy. In the spirit of the co-op, they love to meet new, like-minded creators and see Vaporvent as an evolving entity reflecting back on the great creation of life itself!

Chromatone is Lawrence Hoffman, a San Francisco native who has been producing electronic music for over a decade. Working as a professional audio consultant, producer and engineer, he also masters for many labels: Vaporvent (his own label), Peak Rec, Geomagnetic.tv, Mind Funk, Noise Poison and Dropout Productions and more. After training in visual arts with the legendary Doctor Spook, they produced the video: “Chromatone - Mitochondria”, released on the successful Geomagnetic “Magnus” and "Virtual Vortex" DVDs. As VJ Dr. Hoffman, he has now projected visuals at several events.
